The Terms of Reference for this person were now to pass-on his/her knowledge to the Client. It was no longer enough to 'fix' the problem. The job now was to make sure the Client understood why and how something happened.
We found that as organisations distributed more and more computers into the workplace many of the users just weren't familiar enough with what the computer could and can do.
It was a partnership - a WIN-WIN situation. Forget the HelpDesk or the CallCentre, the Client now had almost immediate access to a real person who was located down the road, across the street or across the hallway even. No more than a phone-call.
